LDA Approves Hefty Budget for Development Projects

The governing body of Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has approved its annual budget for the LDA and its sister agencies such as WASA and TEPA for the fiscal year 2016-17 worth Rs93.48 billion. It is also learnt that all the development budget is not just dedicated for Lahore district but it is declared that around 80 billion has been allocated for the development work in Lahore besides three other districts including Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib and Kasur.

Total budget for the LDA' s Urban Development Wing during the fiscal year 2016-17 is estimated to be around Rs71.86 billion, out of which Rs68 billion will be used for development work. The further distribution of this development budget is as follows: Rs10.87 billion will be provided by the LDA while Rs56.10 billion will be provided by the Punjab Government to execute various development projects under Annual Development Programme and other notable development programme Lahore Orange Line Metro.

Rs1.17 billion are estimated to be spent for carrying out development projects exclusively in three districts of Shikhupura, Nankana Sahib and Kasur. More than 5.80 billion has been allocated for carrying out development projects in LDA housing schemes, which includes Rs1.52 billion for LDA Avenue-I, Rs350 million for the construction of road network, water supply and sewerage in Finance & Trade Centre, Johar Town, and Rs350 for LDA City.

Rs3.5 billion has also been allocated to conduct and complete development work in different LDA housing schemes, which includes construction of underpass at railway crossing near Gurumangat road, Gulberg, remodelling of Junctions and U-turns at Moulanan Shoukat Ali Road, Khayaban-e-Firdoursi and Khayaban-e-Jinnah and other development schemes.

Construction of LDA office buildings at Johar Town and Sheikupura and official residences for officers and employees of LDA will cost Rs449m while an amount of Rs305m will be spent on Development and Implementation of Integrated Computerized Systems for LDA. A sum of Rs200m has been allocated for Preparation of Integrated Strategic Development Plan for Lahore.
