Disney Style Theme Park Proposed near Lahore
Local consultants and engineers, on behalf of foreign investment group, started visiting the proposed site near M-2 Lahore-Islamabad Motorway to check the suitability of the location for theme park. This group is the third investment company that has showed interest in the project.
Initially, a Chinese investment company "Golden Bean", expressed deep interest in developing a theme park but later retracted as the Punjab government could not promise tax relaxation. Later, another foreign delegation has showed interest in this kind of project but gave up during early negotiations. However, this time the government has decided not to sign any memorandum of understanding (MoU) with foreign investors and directly ink an agreement instead.
Local representatives of the new investment group along with government officials have inspected the site, its approach and available infrastructure in the vicinity. Moreover, the local representatives assured foreign investors that the government would encourage investment in amusement park like project. Punjab government agrees to connect the amusement park facility to motorway through three different routes and provide electricity as well as other infrastructure.
However, the land would be acquired by investors after signing of a formal agreement. Initially, the project is estimated to attract an investment of Rs32 billion. The government has completed formalities for the acquisition of land by foreign investors. It is learnt that this foreign delegation has decided to work on the same site, which was selected by Chinese company on Lahore-Islamabad M-2 Motorway near Kala Shah Kaku.
The provincial government, PHA or other government agencies would play their role in helping the project.
It is noticeable that the proposed theme park would also have a five-star hotel, aquarium, shopping centre, rides and breathtaking rollercoaster.
