Chinese Investors Keen to Tap Potential of Pakistan Real Estate Sector

Since the Chinese government revived the old Silk Route under the new concept of connecting several countries through one road, Pakistan has become the most important part of this chain. The China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) that is actually a mix of several projects including roads, railway tracks, optic fibre cable project, dry port and energy producing units – is one of the most significant components of this initiative.

Several key Chinese firms expressed interest in visiting Pakistan and are keen to invest in a number of development projects across the country. In this regard, Pakistani Ambassador to China Masood Khalid briefed the Chinese companies about attractive investment climate in Pakistan and invited them to tap investment and business opportunities offered by real estate sector.

All these Chinese investors were invited to a road-show, which was organized last month by Lahore Development Authority (LDA) and Commercial Section of the Embassy of Pakistan – where they were briefed about investment opportunities in a Twin Tower project in Lahore. Pakistan government was making the best efforts to bring about prosperity and development in the country.

The government is providing lucrative and equal investment opportunities to local and foreign investors and asked them to come forward and take advantage of pro-investment and pro-business policies. The legal system in Pakistan protects the foreign investment particularly the Chinese investment. And since ever, Pakistan and China both enjoyed excellent and mutually beneficial relationships, which is further growing with the beginning of CPEC.

"We are also partners in the development and implementation of common objective of One Belt One Road Initiative initiated by Chinese President Xi Jinping," LDA spokesperson said. China Pakistan Economic Corridor is a flagship project and it would bring along development and prosperity for not the both countries but for the entire region.

Pakistan ambassador assured the attendees that there is political and economic stability in Pakistan and all major credit institutions had expressed satisfaction over economic growth. Not just the Chinese workforce but a large number of Chinese entrepreneurs are visiting Pakistan to explore business and investment opportunities. "To further facilitate Chinese businessmen wishing to visit Pakistan, we have increased number of flights and now they could reach in Pakistan in less than six hours time," he added.

Pakistan government has directed the LDA to build a modern tower having modern facilities. The proposed tower would have offices, commercial stores, food courts and cinema and the tower would be built in the centre of Lahore. The civic authority has already been empowered to grant all the approvals regarding plans, development and construction.
