The housing shortage has become severe issue for the current government, which urged them to come up with immediate and viable solution. Resultantly, the officials have launched and planned to introduce several housing societies for middle and lower middle class across Pakistan in order to end the housing crunch. Taking one step ahead, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has decided to launch new residential sectors in the federal capital by the end of current year to overcome the shortage of housing units, besides improving financial health of the civic authority.

Moreover, the Chairman CDA stated that the work on already launched incomplete sectors would also be expedited after clearing the status of these projects. Though the authority has not identified the locations, where new sectors will be launched but it has assured the public to stay connected for the announcement and development plans. The civic authority reveals that Islamabad Building Control Authority (IBCA) would also be established to develop building by-laws for the federal capital, which must be abide by all the developers for the forth-coming projects. IBCA would also cover rural areas of the federal capital including upcoming residential societies.

Once the authority formulates rules, all new commercial buildings in Islamabad and rural areas around including housing societies would have to get approval from the IBCA prior any new construction or amendment in construction. The federal capital would also be ousted of the encroachments in phases in collaboration with trader organizations. However, before conducting any such operation, all trader organizations of the said area would be taken into confidence.

The authority has released Rs10.25 million to improve the water supply system across Islamabad besides gearing up the land acquisition process for laying Ghazi Brotha pipeline. Other development works include rehabilitation of public parks and play grounds of the capital. Rural areas will not be ignored but the authority has plans to develop public parks and play grounds there for the residents.

The actions are taken on immediate basis and on the directions of current government, which seems to be more than interested in upgrading common people lifestyle and improve the living standards. Several more development plans are also under consideration and will be declared with time.
