Governor Punjab has limited the powers of the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) to Lahore and amended the Lahore Development Authority Act, 1975.
After the amendments in the Act, Sheikhupura, Kasur and Nankana are no longer part of the civic authority. While issuing the ordinance, the governor said that not just ministers and members of the assembly of the three districts but the general public was constantly demanding to remove the districts from the limits of the LDA.
The current government is making decisions according to the aspiration of people and providing relief to the people in every sector is the top priority of the government. Therefore, the Act has been amended to provide due relief to the people belonging to these three cities.
