A new mechanism has been developed and finalized to thwart fire incidents at the Margalla Hills National Park (MHNP). The mechanism is considered in time as the weather is getting hotter day by day and the hot weather conditions aggravate the situation.
The civic authority Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IWMB) have taken serious notice of recent fire incidents in Loi Dandi, sector D-12 and hilly area near F-9 Park.
Higher officials got involved in the matter and highlighted “hotspots” where maximum vigilance would be required to avoid fire incidents. The authorities asked to initiate joint patrolling and inspections with the help of local population at tourist spots such as Daman-e-Koh, Pir Sohawa, and the hiking trails in order to cover fire affected area immediately.
The authorities will also keep monitoring areas where dry leaves are in excess as they can catch fire immediately and spread to the neighbourhood.
