![]() Recently, a ceremony was held at the Prime Minister House to mark the approval of PKR100 billion for home financing by banks for the government’s flagship MPMG (Mera Pakistan, Mera Ghar) housing project. During the ceremony, ceremonial keys were handed over to six beneficiaries of MPMG, who belong to different regions and represent various income segments of Pakistan Prime Minister Pakistan Imran Khan has lauded the role of the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and the related banking industry to lend money to Pakistani citizens, for the successful implementation of the Mera Pakistan Mera Ghar housing scheme While addressing the ceremony, the prime minister said, "This is a great moment for Pakistan because we are heading on the path which we should have opted way earlier". It is a low-cost housing project for which banks have received applications to sanction more than PKR263 billion – out of which the banks have already released PKR109 billion till December 20, 2021. The premier appreciated the banking sector’s efforts and distributed awards among top-performing banks regarding approvals and disbursements If one thing is to be believed, it is that every Pakistani wants to build a home for his family and with a low-cost housing project backed by the government, they can fulfil their dream. However, he urged the banking officials to accelerate the efforts to realize the dream of every Pakistani to own his home He also said that the “Mera Pakistan Mera Ghar” scheme is a government’s scheme of subsidized loans for house construction but it would not just help the low-income group to have a house for themselves but will also boost the economy through increased construction activity "This is a great moment for Pakistan because we are heading on the path which we should have opted way earlier," the prime minister added further |
